Having signed up after an informative UK Zoom presentation led by Farrah Storr, I’ve been looking around, seeing what’s on offer, and attempting to decipher the platform’s How-To and Help articles. The main advice seems to be: Don’t wait for an auspicious moment – just take the plunge!
So, deep breath and…
My name is Linda Acaster and I live on the Yorkshire coast, England, United Kingdom. The image I’ve used as the header was taken – not by me, alas – a few miles up the coast. I’m a novelist, but started my writing career in short fiction markets, which is probably why my longer works cover a wide group of genres, from fantasy to chiller and suspense to historical.
However, my abiding passion is History, particularly the remains of the past visible in the landscape. It is this, and later aspects of my fiction-writing, I intend sharing on Substack. If you are interested…
As you can see, I’ve yet to brainstorm a suitable publication title, but I’m sure one will emerge in time. All I can say is, I’m working on it.
As I come to the close of my initial post, it strikes me that I could write about Flamborough Head shown in the image. It has a lifeboat station, a glorious array of chalk cliffs and nesting seabirds, and two lighthouses. The old one was built in 1674 and the modern one in 1806. Mmm, modern. History can be a bit like that in Britain. I think I need to dust off my camera.
Do drop a Hello in the Comments if you feel inclined. I’d love to check out your sites.
Until next Thursday,
Linda
